Chinese Gilt Bronze Green Tara, 18th Century
A Chinese gilt and painted bronze statue of Green Tara dating from the 18th century. She sits in lalitasana with her right foot dangling off the front of the double lotus pedestal. Her right hand rests palm up on her leg, and her left hand holds a lotus near her chest. She wears elaborate lotus border lower garments and jewelry. Her long hair falls over her shoulder, and her top knot is adorned with an image of Amitabha Buddha. Tall lotuses and a halo-like headdress frame her head.The bottom of the statue is sealed with wood painted with a vajrachakra. Dimensions are: 14 inches tall X 8 3/4 inches wide, 35.6 cm X 22.2 cm.
