Giovanni Panini Oil Painting Canvas Rome Italy: Oil on canvas painting from the 18th century by Giovanni Paolo Panini (Italian, 1691-1765) titled "Ruins of Rome." Panini was known for his paintings of the ancient ruins in Rome. Thisparticular painting was one of four painted by Panini for the Etienne Francois, duc de Choiseul, the Chief Minister of the French King Louis XV from 1758 to 1770. This painting was included in the 1834 catalogue by W. W. Clapp, and comes witha Certificate of Appraisal from Arthur & Associates in Boston dated 1997 with an International Society of Appraisers seal. Painting has also been professionally relined and cleaned. Retains label on the back. Dimensions are: image- 24 1/8" wide x 19 1/4" high, overall - 30 3/4" wide x 26 1/4" high. All measurements are approximate. Condition: 19th century frame has scattered repairs and repaint. The painting has been relined and cleaned. Provenance: A Las VegasCollection.
