Announcing our Fall 2019 Asian Fine Art & Antiques Auction
[ASHBURN, VA, JULY 18, 2019] Oakridge Auction Gallery is pleased to announce our Fall 2019 Asian Fine Art & Antiques Auction, which will be held on September 6-7, 2019, coinciding with the 2019 New York Asian Week.
The catalogues for this expansive, two-day auction will feature a wide array of art and antique items primarily from China, including archaic jades, fine porcelain from the Imperial, Ming, and Qing dynasties, Tang dynasty ceramics, and beautiful zitan and huanghuali wood and furniture pieces from across the 18th-20th centuries. Among the auction highlights are a Rare Imperial Blue & White Moonflask with a 6-character Yongzheng mark and of the period, painted all over with floral scrolls representing the four seasons, and a Blue & White Porcelain Plaque of Three Birds signed by the artist Wang Bu.
The items featured in this auction have been consigned from collections across the United States and Canada, bringing together items from the descendants of Li Tiehan (1904-1965), one of Chiang Kai-shek’s generals, and Shen Dafu, a 20th century poet better known by his pseudonym, Feng Ren. This auction also continues to showcase the British-descended Slade Family Collection of Chinese ceramics and jade, whence came the Chinese Blanc de Chine Dehua figurine of a robed Damo from the late Ming Dynasty which was the show-stopper of our Spring 2019 Asian Fine Art & Antiques auction.
Session 1 of the Fall Asian Fine Art & Antiques Auction will feature our selection of jade and other precious stones, including finely carved white jade, spinach green jade, jadeite, coral, lapis, and agate; porcelains, including early earthenware, celadon-, flambe-, peach-, and ge-glazes, white porcelains, red-ware, blue and white porcelain, famille rose porcelain, and a number of framed and frameless porcelain plaques; lacquered cinnabar boxes and both small and large carved wooden furnishings; and a host of fine bronzes, pewters, and cloisonné items.
Session 2 will include not only fine Chinese paintings, calligraphies, and scrolls, but also several lots of exquisite glass, stone, and porcelain snuff bottles and fine jewelry primarily from the 18th and 19th centuries.
We welcome all prospective bidders to preview the sale in our gallery space from September 3-5, 2019 and are more than pleased to provide additional information to the catalogs upon request.
